CUA is a mutual financial institution based in Australia. It is the largest credit union in Australia. The company's roots date back in 1966 when workers at the General Post Office Brisbane cited the need for a change. The Queensland Postal Cooperative Credit Union was the end result of this motive. The union provided line of credit, term deposits and operated its travel agency. Between 1977and 1986 the institution had grown with over 30 branches in Queensland, Australia. Divisions offering financial planning services and insurance were established during this period. A 24hr ATM service were rolled out during this period. Queensland Postal Cooperative Credit Union merged with Credit Society and Metropolitan Credit Union and opened its first branches in Victoria and New South Wales. The combination of both companies later merged with Australian National Credit Union.
